Executive Committee*: The primary function of the Executive Committee is to integrate the activities of the different committees to ensure the effectiveness of the mission of the Foundation. It also functions as a forum to generate ideas for the agenda of the general meetings of the Board of Trustees. The committee approves draft copies of the Annual Report of the foundation before publication and circulation. The Executive Committee is responsible for generating and developing strategic ideas and plans to enhance the mission of African University Foundation and the realization of African University. The chairperson of the Board of Trustees automatically chairs this Committee. It established the rules to guide the actions of the Foundation and to ensure the administration of the rules. This committee may recommend that the board membership vote to dismiss an ineffective or inactive board member. This committee develops personnel policies for the organization, evaluates the performance of the president, reviews employee salaries, benefits and training, and makes recommendations to the full board regarding personnel issues. The chairperson of this committee may appoint one of the other committee chairpersons as the vice chairperson of the Board of Trustees.
* The Executive Committee is primarily executive in function and composed of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Committee chairpersons and officers including Treasurer, Secretary and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation. The Finance and Audit Committee Chairperson is also the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees.
Finance and Audit Committee: The Finance and Audit Committee is responsible for managing the financial resources of the Foundation. The Finance and Audit Committee reviews the budget-estimate developed by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Treasurer and Foundation President. This committee reviews the monthly financial statements, the annual budget, and financial audit and reports back to the board. It reviews and makes recommendations about the financial procedures of the organization. It develops and implements a spending and investment policy for the organization's endowed and surplus operating funds. This committee is also responsible for auditing the financial transactions and records of the Foundation. The chairperson of this committee automatically becomes the Treasurer of the Foundation and a member of the Executive Committee.
Marketing and Fundraising Committee: This committee develops and implements the marketing plans and manages the public image of African University Foundation and African University for purposes of generating international support, financial support, and volunteers. The committee is also charged with developing linkages with other international institutions such as universities. This committee directs all fund development initiatives of the Foundation. This committee develops a strategic, long-range fund raising plan that diversifies the sources of funding for the organization. This committee recommends fund raising policies and strategies to the Board of Trustees and works with the Chairman and President in planning for fund raising. The Chairperson of this committee is automatically a member of the Executive Committee.
Nomination Committee: The Nomination Committee is responsible for recruiting new members of the Board of Trustees, evaluate the performance of current members, and make recommendations on the confirmation or retention of board members to subsequent terms. It also makes nomination for officers of the board based on performance and willingness to serve. This committee ensures that prospective board members are aware that fund raising is a vital component of the job of a board member. It is also responsible for the orientation of new board members and development of the board. They plan the board retreat for purposes of involving the full board in developing the strategic plan. The Chairperson of this committee is automatically a member of the Executive Committee.
Planning and Implementation Committee: This committee creates a strategic long-range plan for the organization and updates it annually, and overseas areas of new direction. They plan the board retreat for purposes of involving the full board in developing the strategic plan. Also, this committee is responsible for overseeing the various infrastructure and economic development projects of the organization. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to development of African University farms and buildings. The Chairperson of this committee is automatically a member of the Executive Committee.
